Family Healthcare Partners Receives Quality Care Recognition from National Organization Release: January 24, 2008 From: Family Healthcare Partners Contact: FHP 724-458-4950 Family Healthcare Partners, at its Grove City, Mercer and Harrisville offices, has been awarded recognition by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association/ National Committee on Quality Assurance Heart/Stroke Recognition Program. The NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. The physicians receiving recognition are Edward G. Smith, M.D. and Christopher Sprando, M.D., at the Hillcrest Avenue FHP office in Grove City. Also, David G. Hoyt, D.O., at the Mercer and Grove City/Pine Medical Center offices, and Susan Federoff, M.D., Harrisville office. The physicians are on the medical staff of Grove City Medical Center. The recognition is for providing quality care to their patients with cardiovascular disease or who have had a stroke. The program requires physicians to document and improve delivery of cardiovascular and stroke care. To receive recognition, valid for three years, the physicians submitted data demonstrating performance that meets the programs key cardiovascular and stroke care measures. These measures include blood pressure and cholesterol control, among others. When people with cardiovascular disease or who have had a stroke receive quality care as outlined by these measures, they are less likely to suffer additional complications, such as a second heart attack or stroke. Family Healthcare Partners has become one of the most technologically advanced Family Medicine and Pediatric practices in the region. Two years ago, they integrated the MEDENT system of Electronic Medical Records in their practice. EMR provides greater ability for strong disease management and quality improvement. This technology has allowed Family Healthcare Partners to provide excellence in care through ongoing reminders to our patients for important screenings, more rapid response to labs and other important diagnostic information, improved processes and quality of care.
